Performance Contracting Innovations- Panel

This panel will explore the a-z of performance contracting, providing some innovative methods and solutions.

Mr. Burnam is the Senior Manager of Project Development for the Retail Energy Services division of RWE Clean Energy. In this role, he manages the project development, energy modelling, commissioning, and measurement and verification activities for the performance contracting and design-build services portfolio.

Matthew has been in the energy and building infra-structure business for 14 years serving in various roles including project engineer, project manager, and program manager prior to his current role. During that tenure, he has been responsible for management of client portfolios where he has developed and executed many projects using a design-build project delivery model. He is engaged with the project stakeholders from the program and project inception, scoping, constructability, design, construction commissioning, and measurement and verification continuing through the performance period.

Other responsibilities include: performing site investigations, project feasibility analysis, developing schematic design documents, performing life cycle cost analysis of project options for economic return, review of new technologies, interacting with the design team to ensure performance metrics are incorporated, and reviewing cost estimates for adherence to scope in the delivery of design-build project opportunities.

He participates in MEP infrastructure upgrades and replacement projects associated with heating systems, cooling systems, building automation systems, plumbing systems, and electrical systems. With ex-tensive experience in identifying solutions to systemic issues in a variety of facilities Mr. Burnam uses that experience to develop energy savings and performance improvements for these projects.

For the last 14 years, he has worked in the healthcare market with clients ranging from for-profit, not-for-profit, and federal entities.

Matthew holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and currently resides in Tampa, FL.
