Abstract:
On this session, we will go through a practical exercise using RETScreen Expert live, where we will present a model of a building, with a specific footprint, and a specific location. We will analyse the energy consumption baseline and start to apply first energy efficiency measures (EEM), and then see how the energy and financial models change. Then we will apply on-site renewable energy (ORE) and as well see the behaviour of the models. We will add energy storage (ES) finally and see the results. And finally, we will combine all the EEMs, the ORE and ES and see the results. This way, live, we will show that an “energy efficiency first” approach has a bigger impact in energy consumption, emissions, and costs, when combined with on-site renewables and energy storage, than going on ORE and ES alone first. We will as well be able to demonstrate that this applies regardless of the location of the building around the world, using the capabilities of RETScreen to run analysis with several changes on the fly, including adding the effect of the grid emissions to the model. All of this live. The PPT will show the steps that we are following, our assumptions, and the results of each analysis.
