US H2 Blending Demonstrations, Energy Justice and Community Engagement
Federal and industrial investment on hydrogen production, storage & transportation, utilization has taken off in the United States. Hydrogen blending into natural gas is considered a critical way to transport and utilize hydrogen in various energy sectors. Meanwhile, Energy Justice is a focus of both federal and regional hydrogen investment. U.S. government mandates that 40% of the benefits of certain federal programs must flow to disadvantaged communities – including investments in clean energy and energy efficiency, clean transit affordable and sustainable housing, etc. This presentation will give updates on the U.S. hydrogen blending demonstration projects and examples of energy justice/community engagement efforts.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Yan Zhao is a Senior Engineer and Project Manager at GTI Energy with 10+ years of experience in technology development in fossil fuel & renewable energy industry. Yan received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Irvine. His professional experience covers multiple energy consumption sectors including residential buildings, commercial applications, transportation, and power generation. His recent research work has focused on fossil fuel system decarbonization using hydrogen.
