Session E1: Trends and Innovations in Renewable Energy
September 17, 2025 | 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm
It’s Physics! A Breakthrough for High Efficiency, Low Emission, and Low Carbon CombustionCTO
Some hail nuclear energy as the only viable pathway forward. The same with solar, wind, and geothermal. Truthfully, there are many viable pathways, each with a different set of advantages and disadvantages. The future is likely to include many solutions that work together to deliver our power and electricity needs. This presentation will directly address a method of power and electricity production that seamlessly weaves together traditional combustion with nuclear energy in the same reaction space and within the same thermal environment to achieve ultra-low-cost, clean, low-carbon energy.
This session will present:
• A brief summary of the advantages and disadvantages of power-generating solutions
• A concept for how many of these resources can be arrayed together for an optimal solution.
• The role of innovation in solving mankind’s crucial problems
• The Nx25 discovery and how it works with chemical combustion to create ultra-low-cost, clean, low-carbon power.
• How it is impacting industry
Speaker Bio
Steven Shallenberger is the entrepreneurial CEO of Rivotto, Inc., where he has spearheaded groundbreaking energy innovations for over five years. Drawing on patented technologies developed in close collaboration with inventor—a former president of the Association of Energy Engineers and a pioneer in fuel efficiency and CO2 reduction—Mr. Shallenberger leads Rivotto's mission to democratize clean, abundant energy. By applying modern physics to traditional combustion, the company delivers affordable reductions in CO2, NOx, and SOx emissions from coal-fired and natural gas power plants, enabling a reasoned transition to sustainable, dispatchable power while supporting renewables at scale.
A transformational leader with a proven track record, Mr. Shallenberger honed his strategic acumen as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and USAF Weapons School Instructor Pilot, logging 2,000 hours and 100 combat missions. He later turned around Diversified Manufacturing of California as CEO, achieving triple-digit growth amid crises. At Rivotto, he has built high-performing teams, secured key partnerships, and driven market strategies for a $166B addressable opportunity in clean energy.
Mr. Shallenberger holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from Wharton and a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the U.S. Air Force Academy. Passionate about energy security and environmental stewardship, he advocates for innovative solutions to meet growing energy demand in an environmentally responsible way.
