Speaker Bio
Dr. Sarah Sofia is an Associate at The Brattle Group with expertise in wholesale electricity markets modeling and carbon policies.
Dr. Sofia specializes in emissions modeling and accounting, wholesale power markets modeling, and long-term value assessment of wind and solar projects. She recently joined The Brattle Group from REsurety Inc. where she developed nodal, locational marginal emissions data sets, and used these to help inform optimal carbon mitigation strategies, including renewable energy investment and planning decisions, battery storage operation, and load citing. She also has expertise in the use of high resolution meteorological data to model long-term, location-specific weather-driven variability and risk in renewable energy project generation, power prices, and carbon impact.
Dr. Sofia earned her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her BS in Physics and Astronomy from Haverford College.
