Session F2: Building Performance Standards

Increasing Compliance on Building Performance Standards

Benchmarking and Building Performance Standards are important strategies to accelerating improvements to the US building stock.  Tracking utility use and cost data along with key metrics relative to the building – such as type of building, square feet, occupancy rate, and use of space can provide a good indicator of building performance over time.  Building Performance Standards set a minimum level of efficiency that facilities must attain.  State and local jurisdictions have implemented Benchmarking Mandates and Building Performance Standards to drive energy and water efficiency.  This session will discuss some of these programs, lessons learned and best practices to increase compliance.
