AI Tools for Improving the Operation and Energy Performance in Buildings

The design of the new buildings is focused in the reduction of the energy reduction consumption and increase the renewable energy sources to optimize the greenhouse gas emissions to contribute to adaptation and mitigating the impact of climate change.

In the operation of this new buildings is estimated that the energy consumed in the use of the building is 25% higher than the energy calculated during the project phase. Why? incorrect execution, poor maintenance, and non-existent continuous commissioning of the building facilities, …

The objective of the project (AInergy) is the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning models and algorithms to help the buildings to consume the energy they need as the design planned. The generation of a tools to manage all the building data as temperatures, energy consumption, alarms, and data from Ongoing Commissioning), FDD (Fault Detection & Diagnosis), Energy Simulation or BIM model and the operation of this tools help us to improve the building.

In this paper we explain how AI tools have been created and implemented in a real industry of 48.000 m2 are explained. The application of this tools demonstrate in that Industry have achieved a:

• Increasing energy efficiency.
• Improving the operation.
• Improving the indoor environmental quality conditions.
• Improving the facilities maintenance and a FDD implementation.
• Increasing knowledge about the building conditions.
