Mr. Asad Gilani has over 20 years of leadership experience in managing all aspects of public and private sector energy management, environmental management, fleet management, sustainable buildings, and climate adaptation and resilience projects. Asad currently serves as the Senior Advisor/Management and Program Analyst, within the Office of Asset Enterprise Management at the federal Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Asad is responsible for developing policy, implementing, oversight, and reporting on VA’s federal energy and sustainability related goals and mandates. Asad has received several Certificates of Appreciations at VA for his work at VA.

Previously, Asad worked at the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a Program Manager, within the immediate Office of Asset and Faculties Management and established the headquarter level energy management program at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement where he was honored with three Sustainable Practices Awards for his leadership and contributions, Sustainability Hero in 2014, Building the Future Awards in 2014, and Sustainable Law Enforcement Award in 2013.

Prior to starting his Federal carrier, Asad worked as a central office Energy Manager with the General Motors (GM) and DTE Energy partnership program at the GM World Headquarter in Detroit and World Technical Center in Warren, Michigan where he played a significant role as an energy and sustainability Subject Matter Expert during the GM HQ renovation project in 2008-10.
He has been recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) with the Energy Engineer of the year in 2010 & 2007, Energy Manager of the Year in 2009, and Project of the year award in 2008. In addition, Asad serves on the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification board and on the AEE advisory board members committee. He is passionate about minimizing energy waste, mitigating climate change, and reducing recurring infrastructure costs. Asad believes that saving energy and eliminating waste helps our environment, preserves our natural resources, and puts our Nation to the path of Energy Independence.
