Mr. Asad Gilani has over 20 years of leadership experience managing all aspects of public and private sector energy, environmental, and infrastructure projects. Currently, Asad works at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a Senior Management and Program Analyst. Asad is responsible for developing, implementing, and achieving Energy efficiency, climate change, and resiliency goals for VA. Previously, Asad worked at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a Program Manager and established the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Energy Management program. Before starting his Federal carrier, Asad worked with the General Motors/DTE Energy partnership program as a central office Energy Manager at the GM World Headquarter in Detroit and World Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. Asad has been recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) as the Energy Engineer of the year in 2010 & 2007, Energy Manager of the Year in 2009, and Project of the year in 2008. He has been honored with the Sustainable Practices, Sustainability Hero Award by the DHS. Legend in energy & Chartered Legends in energy titles by the AEE. In addition, Asad serves on the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification board and on the AEE advisory board members committee. He is passionate about minimizing energy waste, mitigating climate change, and reducing recurrent infrastructure costs. Asad believes that saving energy and eliminating waste helps our environment, preserves our natural resources, and puts our Nation to the path of Energy Independence.
