Session D2: Advancing Innovative Technologies

September 18, 2025 | 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Heat Pump Technology

Most Industrial and institutional facilities exhaust paid energy, whether electrical or heat, as waste heat into the atmosphere. Integrating a heat pump will recycle this waste heat into high-grade, valuable heat energy that can be reused. This session will cover how a heat pump can be implemented and integrated into an existing or new facility to make the utility generation process more efficient, create operation cost savings, and reduce CO2 emissions. We will also explain the key factors in heat pump design, integration, and implementation.

Speaker Bio

Rajkumar Gnanaraj is a Mechanical Engineer who has established a robust foundation of engineering capital projects from concept to seamless project close-out, ensuring client satisfaction. His expertise is in utility and energy engineering, and he has implemented some of the most advanced and innovative heat recovery and energy savings solutions. All of them powered by state-of-the-art heat pump technology.
For the past 13 years, Rajkumar has been with Armstrong International, initially working at Armstrong’s India facility and focusing on all aspects of thermal utility solutions at end-user sites. About eight years ago he began leading the design, engineering, and heat pump product development at Armstrong, India. Since then, he successfully implemented 50+ heat pumps in India's food processing, FMCG, pharmaceutical, and automobile industries.

In 2022, Raj moved to the Armstrong headquarters in Michigan to lead the heat pump initiative for North America. Leveraging his expertise, he has demonstrated the seamless integration of heat pumps into the thermal systems of large multinational industries in North America.
