Canada’s New Approach: A 1 Hour Special Panel on Unique Strategies Being Used to Create Highly Scalable Deep Energy Retrofits in the Country

This panel discussion will take a deep dive into Canada’s 180 on their approach to scalable deep energy retrofits and why the change has resulted in the largest budget commitment to GHG reductions in Canadian history. Discussed over the backdrop of one of Canada’s largest deep energy retrofit projects, individuals from asset ownership, consulting, and the government will discuss the key barriers that were preventing scaling of these projects outside the typical flagship buildings in large cities as well as many of the unexpected solutions.
Technical components will be discussed as well as key financial aspects and government limitations to ensure attendees get a detailed understanding of the key concepts that have enabled wide-spread, scalable change in the country. Knowledge will be shared highlighting valuable takeaways for asset managers, consultants, and government organizations identifying new corporate sustainability approaches, new consulting methods, and suggested government support models.

Lindsey uses his engineering talents, business experience, and industry knowledge to improve and sustain the built environment.
Lindsey’s experience is varied but stays true to one central concept: buildings. Structural engineering, building science, sustainable design, energy management, project management and capital planning are a few of the “buckets” that Lindsey has ready to draw upon for each and every project.
His unique experience as each of Consultant, Owner's Representative and Contractor over the past 20 years helps guide Lindsey's view on his work with buildings. Instead of following the status quo, Lindsey approaches each problem by asking “why?,” allowing latitude to find unique and creative solutions; always aiming working with nature instead of against it.

Tayber earned his Masters of Engineering in Clean Energy Engineering, holds a CEM and EP designation, is the president of the Association of Energy Engineers Metro Vancouver Chapter and is recognized as one of Canada’s Clean50.
