Designing and Implementing Corporate Wide Energy Efficiency Program Through Retro- And Monitoring- Based Commissioning and Lighting Savings Initiative

In 2017, Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) rolled out a four-year, comprehensive corporate wide Energy Savings Initiative Program via Lighting retrofits and Retro-and Monitoring- Based Commissioning also known as RCx and MBCx. The goal of this initiative was to reduce lighting energy consumption by 50% and HVAC energy consumption by 20% with a 4-year simple payback. UHS dedicated $45M towards this initiative that included design, identification, implementation, measurement and verification (M&V) of energy efficiency measures across 26 acute care and 200+ behavioral health facilities. Join us as we discuss the process of getting a program of this scale approved at a for-profit health care organization, learn about energy efficiency measures implemented to achieve these savings, measurement and verification of results and miscellaneous success ingredients for this program.
