Designing and Implementing Corporate Wide Energy Efficiency Program Through Retro- And Monitoring- Based Commissioning and Lighting Savings Initiative
In 2017, Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) rolled out a four-year, comprehensive corporate wide Energy Savings Initiative Program via Lighting retrofits and Retro-and Monitoring- Based Commissioning also known as RCx and MBCx. The goal of this initiative was to reduce lighting energy consumption by 50% and HVAC energy consumption by 20% with a 4-year simple payback. UHS dedicated $45M towards this initiative that included design, identification, implementation, measurement and verification (M&V) of energy efficiency measures across 26 acute care and 200+ behavioral health facilities. He currently heads and manages UHS' Energy and Waste Management Efforts including supply and demand side energy management, distributed energy sources, waste reduction, and water usage optimization. He holds Bachelor (B.E.) as well as Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management and Finance. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
