Shawn Bilak Southern Company’s Cyber lead for all federal cyber security (DFARS 7012/CMMC) requirements and security assessments within Southern Company. Additionally, he serves as the lead for the External Engagement cyber policy practice and interacts routinely with legislators providing the industry view of cyber policy. Shawn’s Prior Federal Government experience includes leading a team at the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO) performing assessments of CDC applications System Security Plans (SSP). Additionally, he developed and maintained SSP’s for the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of the Air Force. Shawn a US Navy veteran of 20 years holds professional certifications of Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Critical Infrastructure Protection (GCIP) and GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC).
