Henry Ford College- Creating a Near Net-Zero College and a Living Classroom

Colleges and universities are under growing pressure to respond to the rapidly changing demands for more and new skills needed to reduce the world’s energy-related greenhouse gas emissions to zero in less than 30 years. Henry Ford College took the pioneering approach to develop a breakthrough energy and climate plan for the college that would both drastically reduce the environmental and economic impact of energy use and would also create a living classroom to train tomorrow’s workforce. The College’s commitment to comprehensive implementation and the approach to a long-term energy and climate performance partnership with Johnson Controls is an innovative example of public and private teaming that could well be relevant to other institutions. Henry Ford College’s experience and ongoing commitment to approaches to develop the skills and resources to respond to the global climate emergency will be invaluable information for the participants at the AEE World.
