Energy Benchmarks & Best Practices 2010-2020 & Covid Factors

Covid-19 has altered corporate facilities and real estate. A new calculus determines locations, amounts of space required, workdays, operating hours, service needs, etc. This also raises concerns for energy usage, costs and strategy. Managing utilities in large portfolios under still-changing conditions is difficult. Analysis from previous years represents an invaluable resource to help plan the path forward.

Guerin Associates has conducted a benchmarking study which compared energy usage and costs among office facilities with heavy energy demand at major corporations, such as at pharmaceuticals and life sciences firms. Costs for all fuels were included, and all energy converted into BTUs, allowing for rigorous comparisons in many areas. We'll employ factors from DOE data, EIA costs and climate statistics, etc. to update data to approximate current conditions.

We compare data annually since 2007, providing high-level information from numerous major firms. The program has expanded and improved, now including best practices, successful metrics, programs, processes, etc. as described by actual process owners. We will also touch on preliminary benchmarking results from the new Covid era.
