M&V Lessons Learned
This presentation explores the importance of learning from mistakes and failures, as exemplified by the famous quote from Thomas Edison, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." However, the difficulty lies in the fact that mistakes made by others are often not shared, making it hard to learn from them. The presentation aims to change that by sharing a collection of "M&V Lessons Learned," which cover important lessons gathered from managing the function on behalf of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) and advising the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) on projects submitted for the local EE tax incentives between 2005 and the present day. While the presentation references mistakes made in South Africa, they most likely also occurred elsewhere in the world. The presentation emphasizes the importance of sharing ideas, information, and knowledge and how this has contributed to South Africa's leadership in the M&V field.
