ENERGY STAR Values Energy Efficiency in Industrial Decarbonization
With the recent provision of federal funding for research and development of new technologies that may help to decarbonize U.S. manufacturing, many new approaches are under study and are being proposed for a variety of industries. While some technologies are available now, others will take time to evaluate for efficacy and to develop. Research and development must go on but one opportunity exists now for all manufacturing and has varying degrees of potential depending on the industry. This paper presents an estimation energy efficiency’s impact in 8 sectors of manufacturing and pairs that with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program’s plans to increase engagement with light industry.
