Comparison of Energy Saving Strategies in a Residential Building Using a Photovoltaic Solar Installation with Energy Storage

Given the sustainable development goals set by the UN, it is becoming increasingly necessary to reduce energy consumption in the residential sector by increasing energy efficiency and using more energy from renewable sources. The intermittent nature of renewable energy sources such as solar energy is decisive when deciding to install an energy storage system that allows to flatten the load curve of electricity consumption. In this situation, different control strategies can be used to flatten and reduce electricity consumption. This work presents the real results of applying two possible control strategies in a residential building with consumption close to 66 kW of maximum demand and a 9.5 kW photovoltaic generation plant together with an electrical energy storage facility with batteries. 20 kWh capacity
