This presentation will go through basic controls/control systems and provide examples of how to use controls and data analytics to improve energy efficiency.
Speaker Bio
As Assistant Director of Energy Management and Sustainability for Stony Brook University, Tom and his team play a key role in analyzing and identifying ways to reduce energy and enhance sustainability on campus. The team has managed more than $90 million in energy efficiency projects which has led to a 21% reduction in the overall energy consumption despite a campus expansion that has added more than 1.5-million square feet of new buildings since he joined the University in 2012.
Tom holds a Master’s degree in Energy Management from New York Institute of Technology, is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA). Tom was named NY Chapter Energy Manager of the Year in 2016, Regional Energy Manager of the Year in 2019, and International Energy Manager of the Year in 2021 by the Association of Energy Engineers and has won multiple awards for his efforts at Stony Brook University.
