What They Don't Tell You About Starting Your Own Energy Efficiency Business
Starting your own business requires a combination of street smarts, technical and business know-how, and a huge dose of denial about your likelihood of success. There are as many different ways to find success as there are people and business ideas. In this presentation, I’ll share some of my own lessons learned. Some things worked, some things didn’t and how I learned from the process. With luck, you’ll leave with a few things to help you on your own journey as an entrepreneur.

Dr. O’Neill is the Head of Operations for Clockworks Analytics. Clockworks is a Software-as-a-Service company providing fault detection and diagnostics for large commercial buildings. The technology is deployed in over 2,500 locations worldwide, representing customers in education, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and office buildings.
Prior to Clockworks, Dr. O’Neill was mCloud’s President for Connected Buildings, where he oversaw the operations of the company’s global buildings business. mCloud provides subscription-based services using artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to provide remote asset management services to industrial process, commercial buildings, energy infrastructure and healthcare industries. Dr. O’Neill also founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of JouleSmart Solutions, Inc., an Infrastructure-as-a-Service company focused on the small- to mid-sized commercial buildings market and was co-founder and CEO of NorthWrite, a cloud-based facility and energy information management services company.
