How the Asphalt Paving Industry and EPA Collaborate for Energy and Carbon Emission Reductions in Manufacturing
As part of the ENERGY STAR Industry Focuses, the asphalt pavement industry works with others in the industry and ENERGY STAR to identify barriers to energy efficiency, solutions and supportive tools and strategies to improve. This presentation will share some of the strategies learned and will focus further on the Asphalt Plant Energy Performance Peer Exchange (APEX) Program. This program encourages industry engagement and knowledge sharing for best practices at asphalt plants.
Speaker Bio
Katie Healy has been an Environmental Engineer with the Environmental Protection Agency's Region 5 office in Chicago for over 5 years working on projects related to air quality, energy efficiency, and voluntary programs. She has been working with asphalt industry through ENERGY STAR's Industrial Program since 2019 when the asphalt focus was launched. Prior to EPA, Katie was in the Peace Corps for 2 years serving as a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Volunteer in rural Panama. Outside of work, Katie enjoys climbing, playing pickleball, traveling, and walking along Chicago's beautiful lakefront.
