September 26, 2024 | 10:30 am - 11:00 am

Battery Energy Storage Decommissioning and End-of-Life Planning

Battery energy storage is a key enabler to the renewable energy transition. As assets reach end-of-life, the sustainable disposition of battery modules and electrical balance of plant equipment is necessary. In many jurisdictions, decommissioning plans are a prerequisite for the permitting of new sites. This presentation will leverage a recent case-study to walk through the battery storage planning and decommissioning process. Topics like recycling/repurpose strategies, key stakeholder decisions, and lessons learned will be covered.
