Abstract:
Globally, the power sector is undergoing transformational changes, altering the way that utilities operate and how people receive and utilize electricity. The digitalization of this sector has rapidly amplified the use of new technologies such as distributed energy resources, advanced metering infrastructure, as well as AI. In prioritizing the mitigation of climate change effects, this transition will also facilitate significant investment for the efficient provision of clean, reliable power. However, it also poses new cybersecurity risks that may hinder international development outcomes aimed at economic growth and prosperity of emerging and developing economies.
