Abstract:

Automatic fault detection and diagnostic software has been a staple for 25 years, proving its worth in maintaining building performance. However, the costs associated with vendor implementation deflate return on investment, rendering energy conservation projects less appealing when competing against high-value healthcare investments.

HCA Healthcare maximizes its investment in modernized building systems by integrating off-the-shelf business analytics software to visualize equipment performance data. The engineering team handles software integration and dashboard development in-house, reducing costs and eliminating subscription fees compared to vendor implementation.

These building performance dashboards offer real-time insights into operational costs, while assessing equipment performance and energy efficiency. Detected equipment faults are seamlessly processed through our work order management system, enabling efficient tracking from discovery to resolution and providing feedback on cost management.

HCA Healthcare is actively monitoring its extensive fleet, which includes over 200 central energy plants, 7000 air handlers, and other critical systems. Although the process of connecting these systems is labor-intensive and time-consuming, the insights provided empower leaders to make well-informed decisions.
