The IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP) offers workforce credentialing based on the IEEE 1547 standard. Reliable interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as wind, solar, battery-storage, and electric vehicles (EVs) enhance the ability to ensure a more reliable and resilient grid that will take the current electrical system into the future. Learn more about DER Workforce Credentialing. IEEE SA is also the secretariat of The National Electrical Safety CodeⓇ (NESCⓇ), a nationally recognized code that sets the ground rules and guidelines for practical safeguarding of utility workers and the public during the installation, operation, and maintenance of electric supply, communication lines and associated equipment. It is published exclusively by IEEE and updated every 5 years to keep the Code up-to-date with changes in the industry and technology. The NESC 2023 Edition was released on 1 August of 2022.
